STAINLESS SOUL

VINTAGE SPOON JEWELRY BY BREANNA SCHMIEDER

Stainless Soul is a Michigan made jewelry business created by Breanna Schmieder at the start of 2022. At first, it was this idea of a possible new hobby of wanting to learn how to make her own jewelry. One day Breanna picked up a vintage stainless steel spoon while antiquing, tried to make a ring and loved the process. This led to her making many spoon rings of all different shapes and sizes and quickly turned into wanting to share these pieces with others! Stainless Soul's mission: to feed jewelry to our hungry souls.

Stainless Soul mixes the old with the new and is made for all of us! These spoons are found while antiquing all around the state of Michigan. Every spoon is cut, bent and polished by Breanna, thus creating a sparkling new jewelry concept for the Stainless Soul Collection! No piece is the same, making everyone get a one-of-a-kind jewel!

Breanna is a growing artist in many forms. Stainless Soul was made by Breanna because she wants to share her passions and creativity with the ones around her. This jewelry acts as a reminder to ourselves that we each have a soul and we are all stainless!

SOLSTICE HANDMADE

HAND-PRINTED TEXTILES BY DAYNA WALTON

Solstice Handmade / Dayna Walton is a printmaker, illustrator, and mural artist who makes work advocating for the 'creepy crawly' parts of nature, highlighting the importance and beauty of the gross and strange. She graduated from Kendall College of Art and Design, earning her BFA and Excellence Award in Printmaking in May of 2019. Originally from Hudsonville, MI, she resided in Grand Rapids, Michigan during college and afterwards. From 2019-2022 she was a member at Dinderbeck Studios, working with her tightly knit creative community as a full time artist. Dayna has recently moved to Western North Carolina and is excited to find new inspiration and opportunities in the mountains.

Dayna takes a regional approach, traveling as much as possible for events, research, residencies, art fairs, and public art projects. When she's not printing and designing for the business, she works alongside nature centers, museums, public libraries, and similar groups to lead workshops and create murals. Through collaboration science and art come together and inspire others to learn about and tend to the ecosystem they themselves are a part of.

2 BURLY BEES

VINTAGE TEXTILES MADE INTO BAGS AND BACKPACKS BY RACHEL APGAR & GAIL LUERA

2 Burly Bees was founded by Rachel Apgar and Gail Luera under the premise that almost any piece of vintage fiber can be transformed into something useful rather than discarded. The Ann Arbor residents specialize in repurposing textiles into functional items. 2 Burly Bees loves to work with vintage natural fibers they have found at thrift stores, estate sales, or in Gail’s grandmother’s storage unit. Combining these vintage treasures with modern fabrics, they create crossbody bags and backpacks that appeal to everyone.

Between Rachel’s sewing and design expertise and Gail’s eye for style and color, the items created by 2 Burly Bees are the result of a true collaborative effort and are often whimsical and have a touch of the unexpected. All of the items reflect 2 Burly Bees commitment to sustainability and love of the natural world whether it is in the choice of materials used or the use of flora and fauna motifs in the designs.

When not designing or sewing, 2 Burly Bees can be found leading environmental education workshops, camping, birding or rock hounding throughout North America as part of their quest to find components that can be creatively used in the next set of pieces.
